The International Association of Educating Cities (AICE) is a movement created in November 1990 to strengthen relations between local governments to promote the educational value of urban space by promoting policies and public interventions that transform cities in human development, in accordance with the "Principles of the Charter of Educating Cities".
Cascais will host and organize the XV International Congress of the International Association of Educating Cities, to be held in 2018.
The Municipality of Cascais has been a member of this International Association since 1997 and assumes as a priority the development of transversal policies aimed at the quality of life of people, of whom live, work or visit here.
With the motto "Cascais, everything starts in people" we seek, par excellence, the creation of channels for active citizen participation in decision making; voluntary initiatives, social entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship; the enjoyment of our environmental, cultural and heritage resources; investment in knowledge, innovation and creativity. It is also with great pride and sense of responsibility that in 2018 we will be European Capital of Youth.
One of the challenges of the Charter of Educating Cities respects the search for harmony between cultural identity and diversity, safeguarding the right of all those who inhabit it and the contributions of the communities that integrate it.
In our local intervention we believe in democratic citizenship, coexistence and social cohesion based on ethical and civic values, respect for complementarity and for the collective construction of a sense of belonging to the city.
In this case, to our village of Cascais.
Welcome to Cascais!
